About Nico Grassetto

Introduction 🔗

Nico Grassetto

I'm a cloud and AI-focused solution engineer based in Brussels, Belgium.

Currently, I work at Microsoft logo Microsoft on the AI Apps team. Before joining Microsoft, I was at Agilytic logo Agilytic, where I contributed to developing a document recommendation engine for the EU Commission and an e-mail enrichment tool for an international enterprise networking company.

My technical journey began at around 13, when I wrote my first lines of C. I quickly transitioned to web development, working with HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript, and even created bots for Discord. I also developed a knowledge retrieval system in C based on keyword similarity—those were the days before generative AI!

I pursued a bachelor's degree in Data Science & AI at Maastricht University, where I specialized in AI. My research thesis focused on a novel architecture for action recognition and classification in videos using temporal segment networks augmented with a third stream (body pose).

After graduating, I wanted to delve deeper into computer science, so I pursued a master's degree in engineering at KU Leuven, Belgium. Microsoft hired me after a successful internship, leading me to drop out. However, I'm still committed to finishing my degree part-time, taking one class at a time.

I'm passionate about productivity and self-growth, always seeking new ways to enhance my productivity through technology—no wonder I joined Microsoft!
